Lepogo Lodges Noka Camp

Sitting on top of a spectacular 100 ft rock face with the swirling Palala River below, Noka Camp encourages complete tranquility with uncompromised luxury. Lepogo Lodges are created as non-profit ventures; one of the few lodges globally giving 100% of any financial gains back into the reserve for the benefit of wildlife, local community and future generations

Off the grid – all electricity is self-generated with an original bespoke solar walkway. The Lepogo Lodges’ Carbon Offset Programme neutralises every guests carbon footprint from the moment they leave their homes until their arrival at our lodge and back again. Guests are able to calculate their carbon footprint and choose which project they would like to offset their footprint against.

Lepogo Lodges are firm believers of the 'leave it as we found it’ principle. They have taken a uniquely sensitive approach in building the lodge and have built each villa and the main complex on small concrete pads to ensure constructions leave no scars.

With a team of world-class chefs creating African-Asian fusion cuisine taking inspiration from the Asian cooking styles found along the Spice Route of the African coast and made with locally-sourced and grown ingredients, alongside homemade honey, beer and gin, made onsite at Lepogo, an unparalleled dining experience will provide ample opportunity to relax and recharge.

Location

Noka Camp is nestled in the heart of the malaria free, Big 5 Lapalala Game Reserve and offers an exquisite base from which to explore the 48,000 hectares of pure African wilderness.

Eco & Community

Protecting and Preserving

  • Lepogo Lodges Noka Camp operates entirely off-grid. All electricity is self-generated with an original bespoke solar walkway.
  • The Lepogo Lodges Carbon Offset Programme neutralizes every guests carbon footprint from the moment they leave their home until their arrival at our lodge and back again. Guests are able to calculate their carbon footprint and choose which project they would like us to offset their foot-print against. This is done for every guest.
  • 'Leave it as we found it’ principle: Lepogo Lodges have taken a uniquely sensitive approach in building the lodge and have built each villa and the main complex on small concrete pads to ensure constructions leave no scars on this beautiful land.
  • A Reduce-Reuse-Recycle principle is adopted wherever possible. Even guest's slippers and survival bags in the villas are made from recycled materials.
  • No single serve plastic.
  • Habitat conservation projects are undertaken. Lepogo Lodges honey is on the way. Lepogo Lodge also makes its own gin from botanicals only found around the reserve.

Incredible Wildlife

  • Cheetah and King Cheetah breeding & reintroduction programme: Lepogo Lodges have already been pivotal in the reintroduction of cheetah to the reserve and are funding the research and development of this vital project.
  • Pangolin conservation project.
  • Lapalala is a leading private rhino sanctuary. Lepogo Lodges proudly support this.
  • The Big 5 are in the reserve along with a number of rarer antelopes which had vanished from the area and are now thriving once again.
  • Expert safari guides, conservationists and ecologists look forward to sharing their passion and knowledge with guests.

Inspiring and engaging the community for future generations

  • Community engagement and education programme with Lapalala Wilderness School.
  • Community investment: Buy from ‘best in class’ local producers, both quality & volume. Lepogo Lodges buy ‘local’ wherever possible.
  • Lepogo Lodges fully supports local community projects. The ladies at Kamatsogo ‘changing lives stitch by stitch’ supply the lodge's shop with beautifully made soft toys, cushions and clothing.
  • The Mogalekwena ladies produce bed mats and place mats, each one by hand, for use at the lodge. The place mats are made from the Palala palm, the Palala is the river running beneath the lodge. The community at Timola make the room spray and amenities for the shop.

Lepogo Lodges Carbon Offset Programme

  • Lepogo Lodges will offset every guests carbon footprint from when they leave their homes to when they arrive at the lodge and back again.
  • Different modes of transport and different styles of travel carry different levels of emissions. When you are at the lodge, the lodge's team will go through your journey with you and calculate the carbon emissions for your journey.
  • Lepogo Lodges will then convert this to a monetary figure and ask you to choose which of their projects you would like us to offset your carbon footprint into.
