World Whiskey Day
The word whiskey is translated from Uisge beatha or usquebaugh in Gaelic meaning "water of life". The third Saturday in May is World Whiskey Day, and is a global celebration of this globally popular beverage.
On the third Sunday in June we celebrate Father’s Day...a time of hand-drawn cards, after-shave and socks! The origins of Father's Day are not even a hundred years old, and are thanks to the hard work of Ms Sonora Louise Smart Dodd of Spokane, Washington. The idea of a Father's Day celebration came to Sonora as she listened to a Mother's Day sermon in 1909. She wondered why there was not a day to respect and acknowledge the role of fathers.
