The Evolution of Camp Jabulani

Camp Jabulani has taken a decision to evolve and simplify their Jabulani brand identity following a fourteen-year inspirational journey that has grown from an "Extraordinary African Experience" to a "Unique and Soulful Safari Experience."

Jabulani Child Policy Amended

As of 01 April 2019, we have made the decision to allow one child age six or older to share with their parents in a Jabulani suite. A suite with two parents and a child will also enjoy private game drives, which also ensures that all guests maintain the privacy and intimacy that we are renowned for at Jabulani.

Evolved Elephant Experience

Three months have passed since Jabulani ceased elephant-back safaris, and their Evolved Elephant Experience has taken beautiful shape.

"Although we have communicated in words what the new experience entails, we're so happy to be able to bring it to you in motion.

We hope you will enjoy this short clip on our journey with these magnificent animals and the very special people who have dedicated their lives to taking care of them, as well as the importance in finding a sustainable model for their care well into the future. We are so grateful to our many supporters, without whom we would never have been able to keep doing what we do."

The 1st of April 2017 saw the launch of the new evolved elephant experience at Jabulani after the decision was made to terminate elephant-back safaris.

camp jabulani spa“Absolutely Natural and Absolutely Pure” finds no better expression than in an environment such as Jabulani’s. Their Therapy Lapa lies tucked within the dense foliage of the reserve. Eco & Community

Jabulani has, at its roots, a commitment to wildlife conservation. For where would this place be without the herd of elephants for which it was created?

The Schuurmann/ Roode family has a long history on the reserve, and it is thanks to them that the land was rehabilitated from cattle farming, to support the many different animal species which now roam free.

Jabulani works hand in hand with the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre (HESC), and has partnered on a number of initiatives to assist the HESC with its objectives – the primary one being the release of animals to the wild. Jabulani has successfully released and monitored a number of different animals on the Kapama Reserve.

Jabulani believes in the cycle of sustainability, and to this end has embarked on an aggressive recycling programme of perishables, non-perishables and vegetation. Nothing goes to waste! Elephant dung is used as a fertilizer, and is sold as such to generate funds.

For Jabulani, people are as important as animals. The lodge supports a number of initiatives to uplift children from the Paulos Ngobeni School, located in an impoverished community in close proximity to the reserve. Furthermore, many of the migrant workers in the area have been upskilled through Jabulani, and have developed skills which enable them to make a living and support their families.
